» "Maine has been following the precedent set by several other United States school boards and has been cutting funding significantly to schools, especially for fine arts programs. While this mostly affects public schools, it will also affect a small number of private and magnet schools that receive fundings, grants, and scholarships for students from the government."

Abi had been wanting to compose some music for her guitar and had been lead to this room. Since she didn't really need to compose music for an instrument that was included in her talent, she rarely ventured in. Only now, when it was empty had she decided upon entering and using the orange mac computers with the software that would help her compose her music for her guitar. Squiggling the mouse about on the pad, the screen lit up, asking for her username and password, she quickly entered her username - aapplebottom and promptly typed in her password, a quick loading screen appearing. Abi sighed, all of this for her guitar, which was sitting next to her on the squishy chair on the next computer.

Finally, after a series of beeps did the computer finally load her into her profile and she proceeded to click on the 'Music Comp. Play' icon on the desktop. Her face showing boredom, Abi wanted to make a new song, and quickly, she had a tune in her head but this software should help her. The screen loaded and she smiled, this should be fun, Abi hadn't used this in a while, sliding on the head phones, she began clicking and playing around.

Going from higher pitches to long, after of course selecting her instrument. This was probsbly the only alone time she would get, it was nice to be away from her friends for once, it gave her the chance to think without having to think of them as well. She thought back to Homecoming, it had been fun, with Darnell and seeing Jay and Nikki and El together, they were so cute. Abi had no idea what to do for her song, her mind had gone from being filled with ideas to being very much. Blank.

Problem.

The morning had somehow gone by completely music-less, and by lunchtime Madelyn had been snappy and irritable because of it. It wasn't just her violin that was such an important part of her day-to-day life, it was music in general, and she was extremely conscious whenever it was lacking. The awfully loud, tasteless screaming that had been blaring out from the headphones of one of the older students she'd happened to pass didn't help matters in the least; as far as Maddy was concerned, that was pure trash and she absolutely abhorred it. Finally unable to take it any longer, the blonde eleven year old stormed back to her dorm, pushing her way past her roommates' beds until she came to her own. Her frown smoothed out slightly as she snatched up her violin case and her fingers pressed down on the silver latches keeping it closed, but after a moment's consideration she decided that she didn't want to start playing there and then after all. It didn't feel right, like she had gone all day deprived of something amazing and she was selling herself short by seizing the first chance that came along without bothering to wait a few minutes more for something far better. Princesses didn't do that. Nodding firmly to herself, Madelyn shut the case again and slipped her hand through the handle, carrying it carefully with her as she left the room.

Briskly, she made her way to the music wing this time, scowling childishly as she passed by the older boy with the horrible music noise again. Increasing her pace so she didn't have to stay within hearing distance, Maddy ignored everyone she met with royal disinterest, intent on getting to the music hall so she could practice. There would be no private practice rooms for her this time, she was going to stand right in the middle of the music hall and pretend she was there to give a grand performance, and that everyone was listening to her in awe.

Humming a little as she happily pictured the scene in her head, Madelyn turned her head from left to right as she walked down the hallway, glancing into the various music-dedicated rooms as she passed. Halfway along though, she paused, her eyes fixed on the back of a familiar head she could see through the glass door of the otherwise empty music composition room. A smile immediately spread across her features, Maddy could recognize her sister anywhere- even if it was just her hair. Abandoning her initial idea for a chance to hang out with Abigail, the first year nudged the door open and skipped in cheerfully, going directly to where her sister sat in front of one of the orange Macs. "Pip Pip Pippin!" she sang, hopping into the chair next to Abi and setting the sleek violin case on her knees. "Whatcha doing?"

The notes were blaring in her ears, making Abi frown at the screen, this was hardly what she was expecting. Taking a deep breath in and out she changed the start and scrolled through the notes, filling in the beat with lost notes she hadn't decided upon. Suddenly someone was sitting next to her, completely in her personal bubble, glancing sideways to give a sharp glare she realised her sister was smiling and saying something to her. Slipping off the headphones clumsily, Abi raised an eyebrow, "doing?" Abi bit her lip, "Huh?" Abi sniffed, wondering what her sister was doing here.

"What are you doing here, Maddy?" She asked her, spotting her violin case on her knees, was she coming to play in the room, had she played and then grown annoyed when Abi wasn't listening. With those 'phones on Abi had not heard a word coming from that little girls mouth. Considering she looked rather happy, it couldn't have been anything she'd missed. Abi pieced together what she assumed Maddy's question to be, turning around to face her, "I'm composing something for my guitar" Abi hoped her sister knew how private her guitar music was, she didn't like sharing it with people if she didn't have to.

If she had to make up a new piece just to keep her personal music compositions private, Abi would, she hated having that up on display. It was like a part of her that she didn't want to show to anyone, her sister however was another story. "You going to play something?" Abi had never been keen on the violin, for reasons far less than the screeching that she had heard before, it looked like a scary instrument, something unnatural that produced awful sounds. Madelyn was good at playing the violin though, Abi was a little jealous, all she could play was the guitar and sing, the violin loked far more complicated but she could bet that Madelyns voice certainly wasn't as good as hers.
