Her blonde hair was pulled back in an atypical ponytail as she perused the shelves, silently searching for any fashion bibles she could get her hands on. Sophia's passion for designing clothes was a hidden one, not even something she let her sister in on, so as she looked, she glanced over her shoulder every now and then to make sure no one was watching her. She didn't want anyone to think that her mind wasn't on her art, after all - no one needed to think something so wrong as that Sophie Vi was slacking as a dancer. In fact, she had plans to go to the studio in less than an hour to play a bit on her own with some new choreographic ideas. First, however, she was desperate to find a fashion bible from the 60's, her current passion as far as dress went. She tugged affectionately on her blue chemise, which was a tad short and therefore rising unnoticed above her navel, and stood on her tiptoes to reach a book on the highest shelf.

Pleased, she added it to the pile of five she had already accumulated at her feet before beginning to look once again. Her mind was absolutely thriving with new ideas, and her hand itched for paper, but she would save it for later. Research now - and while she was at it, she would find a few videos to pick up some new choreography. Deciding that she had enough books, she carried them to the nearby table, which took surprisingly little effort thanks to her muscular physique. Setting them down with a thump, she moved over to the videos and began her search, completely engrossed in the titles and unaware of anything else. When Sophia was focused, she was focused. That was one thing about her that never seemed to change.

Post  Isaac Cauldine Wed Oct 08, 2008 3:12 am

The first few days at school had gone rather smoothly. No fights. No trouble. No drama. And surprisingly enough, not much homework. He had so much free time lately actually, that he found himself wandering, silently composing in his head, scratching things out, trying new melodies and harmonies. His feet carried him to any number of places when he got like this, and the surroundings and differing thoughts played a great role in the music he created. Feet continued to plot along as he rolled the bottom half of the thin white sleeves of one of his dress shirts into a neat clump below each of his elbows. The top collar was open to an inch below the dip where his collarbones met, the bottom of his shit hung untucked over the top of a pair of dark almost black jeans, worn to just the right texture and style. Slightly fogged ocean blue eyes glanced back up after fixing the sleeves to find himself in the library. Prime music making surroundings. The smell of old books especially always put him in a rather mellow and thoughtful mood.

He was in the center of the library now, which though mostly abandoned was surprisingly well stocked. Each turn gave a familiar sight, yet no two were rows were alike. A little grin tugged at one side of his lips as he came up with a new supporting melody for the next part of a new song. Turning the next corner, he caught sight of a familiar figure, her bare lower back facing him from where he was leaning up against the end of the row to her left. Sophia seemed to be in her own little world as he witnessed her pull a book off the shelf and add it to a large pile before taking all of them quite easily over to a table located a few steps away on her right. He hadn't really seen her since the lake, so he figured he would drop by and say hey. Or just hang around annoying her, which really didn't annoy her. He was sure that if he was actually irritating Soph, she would let him know, which would most likely be done in a much different manner than flirting back bantering with him. And at this point, there really wasn't too much left for him to do that would actually piss her off.

She moved again, and this time, he followed. Making sure she was still completely oblivious to her surroundings, he walked up behind her and coolly slipped his arms around her waist pulling her towards him just a little. He was very careful when doing so, however to leave plenty of room for her to move and was quite gentle in general, making sure to lean forward slightly so that in the end all that was touching were his arms around her and her back against his chest; the last thing he wanted was for her to feel trapped. In the same movement, he tilted his chin down placing his mouth very near the back of her ear and allowing his voice to lower below his normal conversational tone, "Girls like you shouldn't be all alone at night in libraries." His statement, though slowly breathed in a very serious tone, was utterly ridiculous, especially considering it was the middle of the day. He hoped she caught the sarcasm in it before she freaked out. Of course she may still flip, and he may wind up wincing with a red hand mark on his face, but he could deal with it to see her face after his little stunt.

As much as it was about making her a little uncomfortable through sarcasm and other sorts of hints, it was just as much about expressing a tiny bit of his actual feelings towards her. Of course sarcasm and kidding around were the perfect ways to cover up the longing, the pull he has felt towards her for quite some time now, but the sarcasm stung a little each time it was uttered with a tad bit of truth, knowing that she wouldn’t return the emotions, and if she did, they were always cryptically hidden as well. As long as she was pleased though, he could handle kidding around and being friends like this.

He had been right in thinking Sophia was completely oblivious; when she didn't feel the need to pay attention to anything but her own thoughts, she truly didn't. Here ears, so in tuned to music, didn't catch the gentle catch of his feet on the library carpet - she was engrossed in reading the back of a video from the fifties. Her love of vintage was not just for clothing; everything old, aged to a point that it smelled that delightful hint of years, attracted her like a moth to the flame. Her fingers stroked the edges of the tape as she read, eyes darting across lines excitedly, completely unaware as Isaac struck -

The tape fell from her hands suddenly and she failed completely to hide the shiver that that whisper just behind her ear caused. She felt the annoyance, sarcasm, in her boiling up - he had caught her off guard, dammit! Taking a breath and choosing immediately a rather precocious choice of action, Sophia turned in his arms to face him, trying to ignore the touchy touchy and just get it over with, their chests now touching instead of their backs. She looked up at him with a soft, sultry expression, lashes lowered over cerulean eyes. Lifting her chin just slightly so that her mouth was tantalizingly close to his, knowing what it was going to do to him, wanting to get him back, she spoke very softly, in her "library" voice that for some reason had become suddenly very, very husky.

"Boys like you shouldn't sneak up on girls like me."

The facade lasted for a brief moment more before she lifted her hands and shoved him off roughly, with more strength than it looked like she possessed, her expression turning to ferocity in an instant before she noticed the expression on his face and couldn't help but laugh out loud. "God, Isaac, don't dish it out if you can't take it."

Shaking her head, she turned and picked up the film, putting it back, and then moved over to him, hands on her hips. "You are extremely lucky I knew it was you, or I would have smacked you stupid." And he knew it was true. Lifting a brow, she sat down at the nearby table and moved her books out of the way so that she could see him without having to peer over anything. Suddenly conscious of herself, she pulled her shirt down over her stomach, as though it would stay there; Isaac, of course, had still seen her relatively skeletal, but that didn't mean she felt any more comfortable flashing her stomach about. Smirking, she pursed her lips, eyebrows narrowed. "You suck. I'm not going to be able to peruse comfortably for a week." It was her way of saying, 'hi, what's up?'. He would understand.

He was ready for her response, a slap, a scream, a getting-the-hell-beat-out-of-him session. But he definitely was not ready for the response she chose. A wide grin of satisfaction spread on his lips, showing both dimples, a rare sight, when he felt her body shake along the spine in his arms. As far as he was concerned, the best possible outcome had come true, she had fallen into his temporary trap, and some sort of emotion (was it pride?) welled up in his chest. He actually fought back the urge to chuckle at her reaction. He had made the great Sophia Vittorno shiver with his voice alone. Perhaps she was human after all. The tape was dropped, and he figured that would be the end of it, before some sarcastic banter and irritation, but noooo.

His arms automatically moved to fit her better when she turned around to face him, though at this point, especially seeing the woman's face as she turned, he wasn't exactly thinking straight. There was no way that this girl who now pressed herself into him and looked directly up into his eyes through her lashes was the same Sophia who immediately refused and physical contact or speech of a sexual nature. His stomach dropped to some pit of himself which he wasn't usually aware of. His body wanted something but his brain still couldn't quite get past the idea that this was indeed Sophia. He body somehow pressed closer into him when she lifted her chin. His eyes wandered from her parted lips down her jaw, following the line of muscle and skin down her neck and across her collarbone. He blinked back up to those blue eyes which were definitely not natural. His breath clung silently in his lungs as her breath hit his lips, carrying words that didn't help his current dilemma, and it took quite a bit of self control to suppress a noise building up in him that would have been a soft mix between a moan and a whine.

And then it was over. He knew it was too good to last. Damn it all. Her shove, though quite firm, only moved his right foot back one step. It was plenty though for him to drop his arms away from her, mouth still slightly open from his earlier reaction. He tried get rid of some of the images and thoughts that were still skipping around in his head, but there were some things he had just seen and heard and felt that he wasn't sure he would ever be able to completely get out of his mind. Seeing her smile and laugh like that though helped bring his thoughts back to reality.. a little. He wasn't really sure if he was more attracted or shocked at this point. If she could act like that, why the hell wouldn't she do it more often! It would make the world a much happier place.

A smile, or was it an amused smirk, began pulling at his lips once more, eyeing her as she put the video up and sat down at the table. He let out a small laugh as he moved over to the table and stood near her, "Oh believe me, Soph. I could have taken that all day." Another laugh. His eyebrows slanted upwards slightly, "I mean, honestly, what the hell was that? If you could do that all along, why wouldn't you?!" Of course he knew the answer, and he had known that she could pull something like that off, after seeing her practice certain dance pieces that required some acting, but he had never actually experienced that side of her. "And as if any other guy would have the guts to do that to you." He made a smug little face before laughing it off. He sure was laughing a lot. Did she really make him that giddy different? She was tugging on her shirt, like that meant anything after what had just happened. Besides, he had seen her stomach area before, so it wasn't really a big deal, though apparently, it was to her, so he kept his eyes more towards her face and allowed the topic of the short shirt to pass by without one snarky remark.

Her admitting that she had would be jumpy was at least a little consolation to the play she had just made on him - and he had made her shiver. "You may not be able to be in a quiet library, but I'm not going to be able to think straight for a week. Ugh. All my compositions are going to suck." However, he didn't hover on the thought of not being able to think musically for long for fear that he would move to an even odder mood. His vision refocused, forcing himself to keep his mind on the conversation at hand. Another, smaller, half chuckle sounded, though this time it was directed more at himself for being so ridiculous about this whole situation.

Post  Sophia Vittorno Thu Oct 09, 2008 11:45 am

His reaction, which she expected to be just as fussy as her own typical reactions, left her wondering if she was missing something. Had he actually liked that? Oh, God. She did tend to forget that he was very much male sometimes...so it made sense from that perspective. Making a face at him, she rolled her eyes and crossed long legs, setting her chin on her fist and narrowing her brows. "More often? I was just playing your game." Winking playfully, she slid from the chair and sat up on the table in order to feel a little taller, planting her shoes on the seat where she had just been. "Since I'm such a sex kitten and all." Sophia pursed her pink lips and looked at him, her stomach turning for no apparently discernible reason. Why was he looking at her like that?

As oblivious as she was to the feelings of others, which allowed her to be so gifted with sarcasm, she was even more oblivious to her own feelings, something that had led her everywhere from an eating disorder to avoiding affection like the plague. There really was no reason that Sophia disliked physical touch - she loved her family members hugging her, kissing her, but anyone else was terrifying. She chalked up the flutters she felt when Isaac did touch her to this lack of affinity she held; the shiver was placed there, as well, although something in the back of her mind hinted indignantly that she was being ridiculous. The fact that her feelings were so smothered didn't help her recognize that the look he was giving her was laden with longing, frustration, and affection. She only saw it as bemusement.

"Compositions! That reminds me...I wanted to ask you if you would write something for me, something for the recital." The corner of her mouth turned slightly and she shrugged. "You don't have to, of course. It's totally only if you have time, and...yea." She shook her head. "And your compositions will not suck."

He listened and watched her quite intently. All senses still heightened from the adrenaline still flowing through him. There was nothing like a good rush, and of course women were his favorite way to gain this, though speeding like crazy and doing other such stupid things were enough to get him by when there were no good options open. Soph was definitely a good option, but a slightly one sided option, seeing that she didn't think she would be giving into Isaac any time soon. So, in the mean time, he would be getting his rushes elsewhere, which was also a problem considering it seemed like all the things he liked doing, she was quite against him doing. he wasn't expecting to give those little pleasures up anytime soon, so she would probably have to deal with it, like she had been doing for the last few years, for a while longer.

One eyebrow raised slightly, grin still on his face, "But you see Soph, the difference in my game and you playing my game is quite drastic. My game makes you uncomfortable, which is why it's a game." He moved to where he was gripping the back of the chair her feet were resting on, leaning into it just slightly, "You playing my game doesn't quite have the same effect on me considering I'm a guy that happens to like women. Especially women who look up at him with this certain look in their eyes." he paused for dramatic effect, "A lot like the look you gave me just now." He knew she would remember the exact look she had given him, how it felt on her face and how her skin heated when his eyes bore into her. Everything was, as far as he knew, new for her, so he wasn't sure how she would feel, looking back on her actions like that, but figured emphasizing her actions wouldn't hurt too much.

He let the 'sex kitten' comment go, not completely in the mood to convince her of how attractive not only in appearance, which she usually was, but in action. It would almost kill his ego to try to explain exactly the kind of power she had over him when he was all scatter brained like that. Maybe he would explain it one day, but she had already taken him so off guard once tonight, that he decided not to.

He smiled at her request. "Sure sure. Special composition just for you. Just tell me what you need and stuff and I'll think of some ideas then we can work it out in the dance studio one day. I would make time for you, even if i didn't have time." He really did love making music for her, and not just because he got to spend countless hours alone with her under the excuse of working, which wasn't really work for them. He loved that she was so open to new sounds and they could bounce ideas off each other and come up with something great. They really did work well together.

((sorry it's a rush job! :O ))

decisions decisions [tagz; Isaac] Empty Re: decisions decisions [tagz; Isaac]

Post  Sophia Vittorno Mon Oct 13, 2008 8:25 am

Sophia knew Isaac well enough to tell that he was slightly on edge now; whether that was good or bad for her she was attempting to ignore. Regardless, she had caught him off guard, and that made her happy enough. Catching Isaac when he so often was doing the catching was a fun feeling, which was why she didn't indulge often. She didn't want it to lose it's novelty, after all. She eyed him as he rounded the edge of the table and put his hands on the back of the chair, resisting the urge to move away as he invaded her space. Soph was constantly battling herself to stand still and not resist being within a foot of a person, and Isaac was perhaps the only person that this was becoming much easier with. Raising a brow as he began to speak, she stayed sitting up straight, refusing to lean back as he leaned closer, and tried to quell the sudden rampage of her heart in her chest at the proximity.

At least, that's what she thought was causing her heart to beat like that. He was grinning as he made his first point, which was, unfortunately, true. He thrived on making her uncomfortable, and, most of the time, she let him get away with it. It was a small price to pay for what he had given her when she was sick. As he continued, however, and grew even closer, her face tensed visibly and her eyes darkened at the memory of what he spoke of. Sophia chose to be oblivious to this, but being as her feelings were always written all over her face, she knew Isaac would see how uncomfortable she was. She didn't blush, or wince; her eyes stayed on his, steely and, at the same time, soft. What was that ridiculous churning in her stomach? Her hands, placed in her lap out of habit, twisted together and her breath came just slightly heavier, but it was nothing out of the ordinary; in fact, she had reacted this way to Isaac before on several occasions. While it wasn't often by any means, it was something she was somewhat familiar with. Her mind, on the other hand, wasn't familiar with the reality of it at all; to her, it was just her nerves at proximity and Isaac's uncanny ability to make her blood rush. What she wanted in the pit of her stomach? She honestly wasn't certain.

Lowering her brows defiantly to the feelings that he made to rage within her, she pursed her lips and huffed at him. "What look?"

Maybe she was lying, maybe she wasn't. How could he know?

At the shift in conversation, she felt herself easing much more and let her hands release each other, smiling at him, that rare, bright smile he loved so much. "You would, really? I loved the composition you wrote for me last year, Isaac." Shrugging fondly, she spoke once more. "I'm always in the studio, so whenever you want to join me, you know where to find me." Now, to other things. "How did you end up in here? Wandering and composing again?"

He could almost read her thoughts be watching the reactions on her face change, one after the other. Pleased. Calm. Uncomfortable. Nervous then stubborn. Of all the girls he had met, she was one of the ones that took the longest for him to understand fairly well, but now that they had known each other for a while, it was getting easier. And when he bent her all out of shape like this, he could read her like a book. Her denial said it all, as it often did. If there was one trait he really appreciated about her, it was her sarcasm. Or maybe her patience with him. Either way, even with her glare directed at him, he really didn’t want to be anywhere else at the moment. His smirk only crinkled the edges of his eyes slightly as leaned back a few degrees and shrugged to her first question, “You tell me. I’m not quite sure how to describe that look.”

Now that he thought about it, it really amazed him what a difference one summer apart made between the two of them. At the end of last year, he flirted with her, but never as openly as he had been doing. He hadn’t been so persistent in his efforts to get her to lighten up a little. She, in comparison, would have given him a nice fist to the arm or the likes by now. He absentmindedly wondered if this toleration was due to her own ideas or her reception to his advances, be them intentional or subconscious reactions. Maybe he should be a little more subtle again. Play it cool for a while. Was he ‘rushing things’? One thing he didn’t want to happen, above all else, was for her to begin liking his advances and not him. With a lot of girls, this would be fine as long as it actually made them happy, but even as all these thoughts rushed through his head in a second or two, he knew she would be more upset with herself than pleased if she realized that she was falling for ‘some guy’s testosterone driven actions’. The words were clear as day ringing through his head and echoing off the empty space that was before filled with the plots and plans he could start up between them. Maybe he would back off a little. For her sake.

She seemed a little more relaxed now, and Isaac’s body automatically relaxed in response. “Of course I would. I’ve told you before to ask me when you need that kind of help.” Both dimples again. How could he resist a genuine smile when such a radiant one shown in front of him. He felt like he was watching one of those cheesy Crest commercials where your eyes were completely drawn in by the woman’s, usually a blonde’s, smile. Except, this was not one of those fake smiles and it wasn’t just the whiteness of the teeth that captivated his vision. He shifted his eyes back to her’s, not wanting to creep her out. Then again, by now she was probably use to him glancing at her smile. He blinked once then nodded, “Yeah. For sure. I’ll find you one day this week.”

He shrugged again, “Yeah. I couldn’t concentrate and I needed a smoke.” Almost wincing at bringin up a subject which might make her get onto him he continued without pausing too long, “But I had this nice soft melody going,” He paused, bringing it up in his head, “Yup. Still got it.” He grinned as the song played absentmindedly through his memory then nodded towards the stacks of books behind her, “What are you up to?”

She ignored his statement about her look...whatever he was talking about...and listened, cocking her head slightly and puffing air between her pink lips to blow a strand of blonde from her cerulean irises. Sophia has such an intense gaze without even trying; Isaac was one of the few people that didn't take it personally. A flush grew into her cheeks, one of the usual obvious signs of her feelings, as he stared so blatantly at her smile. "Isaac..." She averted her gaze instantly to the table, feeling her cheeks heat as they did many times when he fell into his favorite trap. After a moment, during which she wriggled her nose and face in order to calm the blush, she glanced back over to him, the question rising up within her, one she often asked but never got an answer to. "Why do you look at me like that when I smile at you?! It makes me so squirrelly!" As soon as the term came out, a hand flew to her mouth; damn if she couldn't avoid her Texan slang, even being a New York native.

"Well, I'll either be in the dance room or my room. Just call me or text me or something." She nodded in an assertive, finalized way, as if their planning was complete, before shrugging at his question, realizing that he was most likely going to get her trouble for what she was about to say even if it was not intentional to her past. "I wasn't hungry, so I decided to skip lunch and do some research for-" She almost said something about her latest fashion designs, but zipped her lip in time and continued. "-for a few ideas I had choreographically." She motioned to the section of videos she had been looking at, pleased that her books were turned spines away from both of their eyes. Sophia was shy about everything but her dancing, and even Isaac, she felt, didn't need to know of her private fantasizing with fashion. She was a vintage glamor whore as it was.

"So let's hear this melody."

When she fixed her eyes on his like that, he honestly had a hard time keeping his cool. The sharpness of her blue seemed to cut smoothly through his grey blue ones, in some ways making him more like a gel than a human and in other ways sending little tingles through his nerves making him feel more human than ever. He was however, quite experienced in maintaining a collected state where he was in charge of every move in his body. It wasn’t that he picked up girls a lot with this skill; in fact he loathed guys that picked up girls with one thing in their minds. He has simply found that, in most cases, it is much more relaxing and comforting in some instances when the guy seems collected and like he knows what he is doing. Even if he doesn’t really know, she will trust him more, which is in the long run more beneficial to both party members. He vaguely thought about telling this to some of the younger guys, help them out with girls a little. After all, Isaac had almost perfected being able to keep a straight face and still allow it to be him and not a mask.

However, he couldn’t help it when a tiny tingle skipped down his spine and the muscles in his lower back tightened when she said his name. There was something so innocent about the way it was spoken that began to lead his mind back to all those ideas and images he had shoved out for her sake. It made her actually seem as innocent as she was. Looking at her he would sometimes forget the inexperience and selfdoubt that tended to well up inside her. And it wasn’t just innocence in her voice. Even though his name was uttered almost as a warning, there was something else to it. Weakness? Need, even? Her need automatically transferred to him like they were connected by some emotional link. God. Just attempting to be better behaved around Sophia made him want her even more. Clarification. Not want like ‘I want in your pants’ want, but like to be a significant part of her emotions and life. Though if this was achieved physically, he wouldn’t be one to complain. He exhaled, chest tightening subtly, clearing his head once more.

He was better again, and she seemed to be trying to maintain composure just as much as him, though he knew he would probably cause her a little embarrassment, and he was fairly certain she had no clue what her words could do to him. He was also pretty sure he wouldn’t be telling her she had this power for a while if at all. When she lifted her head back up again, there was still some color in her cheeks. Maybe one day he would tell her how much he liked the blush across her cheeks. Maybe that was even the reason he tried so damn hard to make her uncomfortable or flatter her with embarrassing moments. There were a lot of things that he maybe wanted to do maybe someday. Maybe.

Another grin at her question, but the comment after it made him smile, and her reaction to her comment released a chuckle. So damn cute. It wasn’t the first time she had asked him about his reaction to her smile, but that was one of the things he decided to maybe answer someday way-back-when. Could today be someday? Why the hell not. ”Because I enjoy seeing your real smile,” one of his hands reached up and took the hand that was covering her lips by her fingers and carefully pulled it back in front of her, holding it for a total of around three seconds from touch to when he slipped his hand off from around hers. Three seemingly very long seconds. There were so many things he could say here, ‘and you shouldn’t hide it unless it was with my lips’ being one of his favorites at the moment, but instead he kept his big trap shut for once, glancing down the back of the chair for an instant then pulling his gaze back up. He figured he had already taunted her enough through ‘holding her hand’ on its journey away from her lips. If there was one good thing about restraining himself, it was, in a sense, being able to tell the magnitude each look, every touch gave her. How big a deal everything was in comparison to her relatively bland contact history thus far.

He was a little surprised she had mentioned her room as a place to find her. Obviously, she spent a good deal of time in there, but she was usually pretty set on not allowing him in their girls only room. School rules and daddy’s standards and all. The exceptions had mostly happened when she was distressed or having trouble and he had giving up trying to comfort her on the phone and she was too much of a mess to tell him to get out. He mentally shrugged it off, taking it more as a place where he could find her than a place they could be together. He had the same no opposite genders in rooms rule at home.. not that he really listened to them. The whole boys are blue, girls are pink, don’t make purple thing his mom tried to enforce. He didn’t understand why just because a room had a bed, his parents automatically assumed they would be having sex or something of the likes in there. If he and a girl really wanted to sleep together, a rule keeping girls out of his room wouldn’t stop them. But parents will be parents. What can you do.

Something didn’t quite sit right about her explanation. She wasn’t telling him something about why she was here, but he doubted it was anything that would effect him or even her too drastically, and if she cared enough to lie about it to him, he wouldn’t press the issue. Chances are he would find out eventually anyways. Instead he focused on the answer she did give him, “Oh yeah, that new dance you are working on. What style is it going to be? Any good ideas yet?” He was by no means a dance expert, but having a sister and quite a few friends in dance at an art school did give him a small sample of knowledge of the subject. Single-serving knowledge. Just enough to know about it, but never enough to experience it for real.

A smugger grin appeared at her demand, and he let out a little thoughtful noise like he was thinking, eyes squinting a little at the edges, “Hmm. Nah. I don’t think so. You will hear it someday, but until then, I don’t want to ruin it with its incompletion or taint it by not being able to allow you to hear it on the instrument it’s made for. My voice wouldn’t exactly do it justice.” He didn’t have a bad voice at all (though most people didn’t know this), but it was made for piano and he didn’t want her to hear it in its simplest form when it could be so much greater. It might drive her crazy now that she knew he had a new song in his head, but that almost made him smirk more. There was something about keeping a pleasant surprise from someone while they knew you had it up your sleeve that drew people together. Or maybe she would shrug it off. Either way, he would wait until it was complete and she could fully enjoy it to share. Perhaps today wasn’t someday after all.

decisions decisions [tagz; Isaac] Empty Re: decisions decisions [tagz; Isaac]

He answered her question after a moment of what clearly seemed to be thought, looking at her so thoroughly that even with her head down Sophia felt like a clear glass window. Her heart was suddenly so present in her chest. She looked at him curiously but didn't ask after he answered her, about to lower her hand when he reached out and took her hand. The shock to her system was ridiculous - for someone so used to dancing with partners, to holding hands with her father as a child, the typical human action of a touch was something she preferred not to experience with anyone other than in those situations. There was no real reason why; perhaps it stemmed from how afraid she was that people would feel her bones when she was suffering from anorexia and either be disgusted or try to help her. In fact, one of the few reasons that Isaac had even gotten involved was his accidental sight of her dancing alone, when her ribs were so clearly visible. He had been the only person not to listen to her lies about it, and now, she was thankful, but even still the idea of being touched was incredibly...well...

She couldn't think of a reason she disliked it so much as he gently picked up her hand, the contact so light and minimal but still, somehow, meaningful, and pulled it from her mouth. Her physical response was to react with a barely noticeable squeeze of her own before it finally registered in her mind that he was holding her hand. She pulled away as he let go and took a deep breath, still watching him as though nothing had happened, wide blue eyes clearly feeling something that she couldn't describe. Comfort? Ease? Whatever it was, she raised a brow finally and smiled just slightly, glancing down at her hand. That had been much easier than a hug. She felt strangely suffocated when Isaac wrapped his arms around her, even if she wasn't actually losing air; the combination of warmth and a tight grip and being so close to a male was as unnerving as it was exciting (although she didn't really register that as well as other girls), but that hand thing hadn't been so terrible. It was odd - she almost wanted to feel that little rush again; the drug of doing something that she typically avoided. Suddenly feeling very daring, she reached out again and grabbed his hand, waiting for her usual instantaneous reaction, a jerking away, but she forced herself to hold it there for a moment, looking at it, almost afraid to look at Isaac for the concern that he would give her one of his sweet, proud smiles, the ones that made her warm from her toes to her scalp. His pride was something she treasured even with that of her family, but she wouldn't tell him that. He didn't need to know, and she probably wouldn't have enjoyed it as much.

Her thumb grazed the top of his hand as she struggled against he usual will, determined, strangely, to break her stupid habit. After only a minute, she finally released his hand, suddenly very frustrated with herself. Glancing up at Isaac, she huffed. "I still don't understand why I find that so invasive." Holding up her hands, she looked at him cutely and added, "And no, that doesn't mean I want an experimental hug." Shrugging off her random experiment and almost instantly settling back into the old Soph, she tugged at her hand for a moment, disbelieving, almost, of what she'd just done, before her mind shifted and she realized that she conveniently slipped past him as far as skipping lunch was concerned. He was always making her eat, even if she was legitimately not hungry - granted, he'd seen her forty pounds lighter and significantly sicker, but still.

Seeing the amused look in his eyes and reconciling it immediately with what she had said, she smirked and poked him in the chest. "That is not an invite to my room, Isaac. Although I'm sure you'll find your way there anyway." He had before, even against her requests, and it had never turned out badly; they had only stayed for a moment before the horrified Sophia had pushed him out into more free territory. "Really, since it's so fascinating there anyway, with my bed, my dresser...so much to see." Chuckling at her own joke, she continued her facade as he went with it. "My modern piece. It's going to be really..." She paused, trying to think of the right word. At least the dance was real - maybe she wasn't here for it, but it was real. "Hmm. Raw, I think that's a good word for it."

Pouting magnificently as he spoke once more, she huffed again. "Fine. I can wait. But I want to show you something." Planting her feet in the chair between them, she stood up, coming dangerously close to hitting his face as her long legs straightened, then leaped gracefully down to the floor and darted to the shelves she had just been searching. Knowing he would follow her, she stood on her toes and started glancing at titles before she found what she was looking for, and, pulling it down, she held it out proudly for him to see. "It's a fascimile transcript of Beethoven's symphonies." Opening it, she continued. "See, on one side is his hand-written notations, and on the other side, they've typed in his notes and the actually music measures so that it's clear."
