Singing practice [piano accompaniment loved xD but completely OPEN]
It was the first time being back at Felicity's and she hadn't been at the music room by herself in a while. It was odd. Abi looked at the music she had selected, holding it out in front of her, Halalujah by Leonard Cohen. It was a classic piece she had started to practice, after seeing it in the library, it sounded amazing once she hummed the tune, even though it was just like the Hallelujah tune, the words were very different. Her eyes reading each note with a smile. The quick paced sound running around her imagination, there were some difficult notes, but it was just an average piece, terribly funny. Abi was in one of the larger rooms, wondering if anyone would go past and see her. She had even stuck a large sign, saying 'NEEDING PIANO ACCOMPANIMENT for HALLELUJAH - LEONARD COHEN IF POSSIBLE' Tucking her hair behind her ear, and setting her feet a small width apart, Abi took a small breath.
I've heard there was a secret chord
that David played, and it pleased the Lord
But you don't really care for music, Do you?
It goes like this, the fourth, the fifth
The minor Fall, The major lift,
The baffled king composing, hallelujah
Abi took another breath, thinking about the start of her last year. Was it truly going to be as exciting as she wanted it to be? She couldn't believe she'd be graduating at the end of this year, doing all of her singing work and finally leave and become something amazing. If she were lucky of course. Unfortunately, she really needed a piano accompaniment for this. Abi waited the beats necessary before continuing.
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Your faith was strong but you needed proof
You saw her bathing on the roof
Her beauty in the moonlight overthrew you
She tied you to a kitchen chair, she broke your throne
she cut your hair and from your lips she drew the halleujah
Abi desperately wanted to laugh at that part, Leonard Cohen was obviously a man and it was written for a man, so she stopped for a couple of seconds. Her bag laying at her feet, she bent down and began searching through for a pencil, wondering if it would sound any better if she put it slightly differently. Abi muttered it under her breath, "Hallelujah, Hallelujah. Your faith was strong but you needed proof, you saw him bathing on the roof. His beauty in the moonlight overthrew you. He tied you to a kitchen chair, He broke your throne, he cut your hair and from your lips he drew the halleujah" She shrugged, it seemed to work, at least for now. Finding the pencil, Abi stood up, quickly running through the verse and changing the gender.
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Your faith was strong but you needed proof
You saw him bathing on the roof
His beauty in the moonlight overthrew you
He tied you to a kitchen chair, he broke your throne
he cut your hair and from your lips he drew the halleujah
Smiling, Abi continued on. It was a beautiful song, in her opinion far better than the traditional 'Halalujah'. She found she was beginning to relax, although her voice kept to the high notes neatly, Abi knew it needed some work still. It sounded wonderful so far, just the second time practicing, it was ok. She knew practice would make perfect, before she could present this to anyone! It wasn't her normal type of song anyway, more serious than her slightly more upbeat songs. Since she had gotten back, she felt like a change before it went back to normal. Abi loved singing, practically anything, as long as it wasn't ridiculous.
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Maybe I've been here before
I know this room, I've walked this floor
I used to live alone before I knew you
I've seen your flag on the marble arch
love is not a victory march
it's a cold and it's a broken Hallelujah
This song was a great find, after being in the Library. Searching through the masses of books, until she came upon this song after some inspiration of the movie kind. Her teacher had encouraged singing of that song, so here she was trying it. Abi wondered what she would do this year, any clubs that she could possibly join. She had heard about the Student Life Committee, and was thinking about becoming Secretary. There was no way Abi would want to organise one of the events, it would be much more fun organising the events with the President, and Vice-President. Still it was only an idea, Abi wasn't entirely sure yet.
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
There was a time you let me know
What's real and going on below
but now you never show it to me, do you?
And remember when I moved in you
the holy dove was moving too
And every breath we drew was Hallelujah
Abi had tried to analyse the song. It was with great difficulty that she had begun managing this feat. After the lessons on analysing lyrics, Hallelujah meant of course heaven, some sort of miraculous feeling. Although, it was the start of the term, Abi really hadn't been able to use her brain power after the calm vacation she had been on. She began thinking about the first time she had come to Felicity, and said she was singing. It was scarily competitive, and Abi didn't believe she would be able to stay with such amazing people. She managed to prove herself of course, before the end of the year, and the people she thought were amazing, became her friends. All in all, the reminder of her first year was a good one. Why did she get the reminder in her last year at Felicitys? It was strange how the mind worked.
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Maybe there's a God above
And all I ever learned from love
Was how to shoot at someone who outdrew you
It's not a cry you can hear at night
It's not somebody who's seen the light
it's a cold and it's a broken Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah…
It clearly went too deep for her at the end, at least for the moment. Abi would have to work on that later. Now she just wanted to get through the song without any hiccups. Until that happened, she wouldn't leave the practice room, unless her stomach began rumbling and it was time for dinner. Abi took a slow breath as she finished the final note, a little shaky as it was so low. She looked over the piece again, thinking, her mouth a slight pout. Abi ran her hand through her hair, trying to work out what she could do next. It was held up at the top, trailing down in a little clip at the back of her head. Her platinum locks, covering her shoulders, curling down until it reached below her shoulder blades. The song was one she wasn't too sure what to make of, her teacher had said it would be a good variation to her usual, but it sounded weird coming from her mouth.

Re: Singing practice [piano accompaniment loved xD but completely OPEN]
"Not bad, baby," Alicia said from the door frame she had been leaning on. There was no way at all she was going to let the girl know how long she had been listening in, but the grin that was beaming from her face should say more than enough. Alicia had been impressed, no doubt.
"I know you're looking for someone to play piano for you, but until that happens, would you settle for a guitarist?" Alicia asked. Taking a step or two into the room, it didn't even occur to her that she was talking to one of the seniors that she hardly even recognized, much less was familiar enough to chill with. Forget about all that though. The girl wanted to sing. Alice wanted to play. What more is life supposed to be about, right?
Her purple guitar (the one on the bottom) had been slung upside down across her back. Idly tapping the fretboard, she smiled a bit more while waiting for a response. It would have been rude to just assume she was welcome in the first place.

Abi grinned, "Thanks. Didn't know I had an audience", she turned her feet around, facing her she looked at her for a moment before nodding. "Sure. Grab a guitar and go ahead!" Abi hoped that what she had been singing was ok, it wasn't something she'd normally decide to sing. She welcomed the girl inside the small square room, "Do I know you?" Abi frowned, as she asked her, this girl wasn't a senior and it was strange that she didn't know this girl. It wasn't that important, Abi didn't mind that someone that she didn't know wanted to play the guitar while she sang, Abi just wanted a name.
She watched the girl carefully, as she showed her purple guitar, Abi didn't have an electric guitar, she loved hers all the same. Although, Abi had decided that once she graduated, she was going to buy a deep maroon coloured electric guitar. Abi turned back to the papers in front of her, flicking through, "I like the song. It's just I don't think it suits me. It's not a song I normally sing" She turned her head, although her feet stayed stuck in the same place, Abi wondered how much she had heard. She didn't know if the girl would understand what she was talking about, Abi just wanted an opinion.
