The first couple of weeks back at Harriman had melted quickly away, and Jay soon found that it was already the second friday night of the school year. She sat, wondering how time had passes so quickly, as the multitude of night-time bugs (that seemed to Jane to only exist on warm nights in Maine) were busy making music that floated in through the open window. In a little while these little raspy noises would be cut off by Jay and her friends callously blasting music from their ipods, but for now, while Jay waited for Izz and Sophia to arrive, the music of the night seemed perfectly fitting. Jay's face erupted into a smile at her own thoughts 'the music of the night', eh? How Phantom of her. Maybe it was this place, this magnificent school, that just made her life seem so much more dramatic. Maybe it was the drama, but at least she might have a couple of days before the invariable Harriman drama machine began really getting to work. Already Jay had heard whispers about something brewing between Soph and Issac. Something about a phone fight...or a phone light, all she knew for sure was that Soph had left in some kind of funk after getting a text message from somebody. Jay hadn't really been paying attention, honestly, gossiping wasn't really her bag. She just couldn't get her mind to hold on to the facts, and she always re-told stories so incorrectly that it was usually comical. Yes, Jay was the girl who always made playing telephone fun. The one that turned 'Roger has stinky feet' into 'Leslie went down to the grocery store to buy some salami and be elite'.

Jay chuckled away her past failures at repeating other people's words and began to sort through the fingernail polish she'd picked out. She couldn't decide if she wanted to paint her nails purple, neon green, or candy apple red. Or maybe she'd match them to her truck! Oh, her poor poor truck. Jay frowned down at the gleaming bottles of polish on the carpet in front of her. Both her computer and her truck were supposed to be with her at school by now, but something had gone wrong with the delivery company. Her mom had told her on the phone that they'd be there no later than a week from now. A whole flipping week! If she'd had her lovely Chevy already, she could have been driving Izz and Soph to some kind of crazy adventure in town this evening. Though having a stay-in sleepover wouldn't be too bad, either. She got to wear her comfy, slightly paint-stained gray sweats with a bright yellow shirt and didn't have to worry that her pulled-back hair was a complete mess at the moment.

Jay opened the bottom drawer of her large dresser, the amply stocked snack drawer, and pulled out a huge bag of puffy Cheetos. So what if she was being too true to stereotyping. She was a gamer and she loved Cheetos. At least she wasn't drinking Mountain Dew with them, ick. Nope, she was perfectly happy with sipping her Dr. Pepper as she waited for the rest of the nail-painting trifecta to arrive.

Oh Those Painted Trollops!  {{Soph, Izz}} Empty Re: Oh Those Painted Trollops! {{Soph, Izz}}

Post  Sophia Vittorno Wed Nov 12, 2008 11:26 pm

Sophia was not having a good day. The idea that she was going to to a little slumber party, something so innocent and unpretentious, at the end it, was a strange sort of relief. Her mind was swimming with thoughts of what had happened - arguing with Isaac over stupid little text messages, and then, that kiss...ugh. She shook her head, trying to avoid the feeling in her stomach that she recognized as fear and maybe something else rising to the surface. He had kissed her and she had left him standing there. What had he been thinking, anyway? What gave him the right to take her first kiss like that? Why did she care so damn much? Soph stared at her phone in her hand as she walked, tempted to send him a text, but resisted. The cell was tucked safely into her bag and she crossed her arms over her small chest, sighing heavily. It was all so terribly confusing. She didn't how how she felt about Isaac anymore, and she didn't know how to tell anyone how she felt; she couldn't stand the idle gossip and girly chatter that she felt like would ensue if she revealed what had happened to anyone else. It looked as though she was just going to have to suffer.

Her hand reached out as though part of a different universe and opened the door to the Senior girls' dormitory, smiling automatically at Jane and waving, setting her bag down nearby and moving to sit next to her friend. She had nail polish spread out in front of her, all bright, vibrant colors that matched her personality completely. Grinning, Sophie reached out and pluck the red from the pile. Being the vintage child that she was, the bright color appealed to her in the way that the gorgeous old clothes in the store a couple blocks away did; it was vivid, but old-fashioned. Perfectly Sophia. Holding up the color and waving it, she spoke. "This one is my pick. You made up your mind yet?" Her own mind kept darting from Jane to nail polish to Isaac. How annoying! Desperate for a change in subject internally, she dropped her hand into her lap and smiled expectantly. "So what do we have planned?"

Jay quickly finished her mouthful of cheetos as Sophia walked in, not wanting to give the girl a view of half-chewed orange sludge. After giving her teeth a quick once-over with her tongue, Jay smiled broadly at Soph and surveyed her color choice. "Oooh, siren red! Vicious Soph! I think it'll look amazing on you." Jay looked dejectedly at the colors, still unable to quite decide between neon green and purple. She couldn't really go with red, since she'd never be able to rock it the way Soph would, but there were still too many to pick from. She cocked her head to the side and forced her mind into a split-second decision. "Ummmm. Blue with white polka dots!" she said with the excitement of somebody who isn't quite sure what they are going to say until the words actually pour from their mouths. She frowned a bit again. Now there were three blues to choose from. Nah, this would be easy! "Will's eyes blue, I think." she said scooping up a bottle of deep navy blue and one of pearly white. She looked at Soph and suddenly remembered the oh-so-tiny fact that the girl was not very, um, enamored with Will gates. Jay cringed internally, hoping she wouldn't start the night off by pushing Sophia's buttons.

"What've I got planned?" she said, trying to change the subject of Will before it even became a subject, "Well, we're going to paint each other nails, eat lots of horribly unhealthy snacks, look at ridiculous youtube videos until we laugh our socks off, play truth or dare, and...whatever else you and Izz wanna do. I'm waaaaay open to suggestions." She smiled invitingly at Soph, hoping that the night's agenda wasn't too horribly boring. "Now if only Izz would get her smoking heiny in here!"
