Pop! Goes The Cherry
»"Oh, WG, have you really know decency? This is kind of old news, but it looks like IC might have paid off a few people, like the true politician’s daughter that she is, to keep this little gem on the hush hush. But oh, IC, IC, don’t you know that nothing is safe from me?"

Oh, Baby, Baby!
»"Hey Harrimaners, sorry for my brief abscence, but I’ve been just too busy trying to keep track of all the gossip in this school to even be able to write about it! But this little piece of news was just TOO good for even a busy bee like me to pass up."

Casualties were numbered at as many as twenty Iraqistanis, as well as three American soldiers, and thirty of both parties wounded. A statement has not been issued by the army as to the potential terrorists, but WNB is willing to guesstimate that Tyler Durden + Sack Of Mothballs = Big Explosion"

Maine to Pass Bill for Heavy Budget Cuts; Sports, Arts Suffer
» "Maine has been following the precedent set by several other United States school boards and has been cutting funding significantly to schools, especially for fine arts programs. While this mostly affects public schools, it will also affect a small number of private and magnet schools that receive fundings, grants, and scholarships for students from the government."

GENERAL INFO, YO'

[ THE FULL NAME ]: Erik Pedroline (pay-drroh-LEE-nay) Canio (kah-NEE-oh)
[ THE NICKNAMES ]: He prefers students to call him Mr. Canio, but doesn’t really care if they choose to just call him Erik.
[ THE BIRTHDAY ]: May 8th, 30 years ago.
[ THE AGE ]: 30 years old
[ THE GENDER ]: An extremely attractive male.
[ THE SEXUALITY ]: Definately leaning towards the straight end of things.
[ THE NATIONALITY ]: Italiano.

[ THE TALENT ]: Singer Extraordinaire. I have no confidence that I spelled that right...
[ THE SUBJECT ]: Choir Director
[ THE RESUME ]: Erik actually wanted to attend Felicity when he was younger, but his mother told him 'no' and that was that. She didn't want him at some boarding school in another country. Erik wasn't exactly heartbroken, though, since he had three different private tutors: once for singing lessons, one for piano lessons... and the other for history and math and all that other junk. Even though he had a tutor to teach him how to sing classically, he learned mostly through watching his father perform in a professional production of Pagliacci. When he was eighteen, he flew to New York and got a G.E.D. so he could apply to Juilliard. Naturally he sang Pagliacco for his audition. He wrote his essay on how his father was the one that inspired him, and was able to get a letter of recommendation from each of his tutors. He was accepted into Juilliard shortly after that, and worked to get his bachelor's and then master's degree in music, and during that he also earned his A.D.O.S (Artist Diploma in Opera Studies). He then left Juilliard and was able to perform as the Phantom in a Broadway production of Phantom of the Opera, but only did so for two years and a half before deciding he'd rather teach others to appreciate music than just perform it. He applied as Choir Director at the school that he'd once hoped to attend, and was accepted because of his many degrees and vast knowledge of singing, especially classically.

This was way longer than I originally planned. @__@

PERSONALLY STFU

[ THE INTERESTS ]:
    Music
    Opera
    Theater
    Artsy stuff
    Ambition
    Talent
    Being healthy
Honesty (no matter how cruelly blunt, it's always appreciated)
    Coffeeeeeeeeeeee.
Attention, though he won't admit his love of the spotlight.
    Warm colors
    Masks
    Festivities
    Kids who ask questions
    Eating
    Passionate performances *cough*overacting*cough*
    Rainy days
    Roses *rolls eyes*
Almost anything having to do with science fiction.
Being surrounded by people, whether it's students or colleagues.
    Intellectuals

[ THE HOBBIES ]:

Singing loudly and fully, whether on stage or in the shower.
Listening to his old opera records: some grand aria is always playing in his office, out of a mix of his love for the music and his hate of silence.
Reading science fiction novels, especially anything by Isaac Asimov.
    Striking up intelligent conversations.

[ THE DISLIKES ]:
    Messiness
    Patronization
    Stupidity
    Slackers
    Bland performances
    Bad reviews
People with "bad taste" (meaning tastes different from his)
    Alcohol
    Drunk people
    Surprises
    Cheaters (on tests)
    Cheaters (in relationships)
    "Rebels"
Screamo and Rap (IT'S NOT MUSIC IF IT DOESN'T HAVE A MELODY)
    Scary movies
    Fast food
    Television programs (that aren't sci-fi)
People who fall asleep during choir or perfomances (you've been warned.)

[ THE FEARS ]:
    Mirrors
    Skeletons
    Fire
    Driving
    Being alone
    Rodents
    Blood and gore

[ THE TRAITS ]:
Erik isn't a fan of being left alone in the dark, a trait that's never left him. He doesn't like kids who rebel just for the sake of being 'cool', but he does like kids who'll disobey authority in order to do what is right, so long as that authority isn't him. He is loud and commands attention of his students. He tends to get caught up in his own rants and rambles, forgetting everything around him. He hates messiness, but his office tends to be cluttered all the time anyways. He is very assertive, and is extremely aware of his abilities, to the point of being proud. Though he remembers his manners in the technical sense, he sometimes forgets how his assertive and outspoken tendencies come off to others. He also gets irritated easily, but he isn't the type of man to simply explode when angered. he handles himself better than that.

[ THE ULTIMATE GOAL ]: Be the lead in Pagliacci.
[ THE PREVIOUS SUCCESSES ]: Has a master's in music, and his A.D.O.S., two very large accomplishments. Starred as the Phantom, also a very large accomplishment. But he still wants more.
[ THE STRUGGLES ]: Erik's father, and idol, died from a heart-attack while he was still in college. It made getting his degree hard, and he had attend therapy for two years, something he'd hoped he'd never need. He then had to take up therapy again during the last year of his performing as The Phantom, because he'd been having nightmares so bad that they made him sleep with the lights on, which he still does. He's also only had a handful of girlfriends, none of which have lasted longer than a month. He always gets sick of them after a few weeks and has to break things off.

[ THE OTHER SCHOOL ]: He had private tutors, got his G.E.D., attended Juilliard, got a master's in music and a diploma for opera studies.

LOOKS, LOCKS, SHOCKS, AND BARRELS

Canio, Erik Sylar

[ THE PLAYED-BY ]: Quinto, Zachary. *girly sigh*

[ THE EYES ]: Four sentences? Sheesh, Rach. They're just brown. XD
Erik has large, intense dark brown eyes. They always seemed to be narrowed in concentration, which may be due to the fact that he concentrates on everything he does. When he's angry, instead of obvious glaring, he just stares flatly. Often times, the expression on his face will change, but the look in his eyes remains the same unless he's been taken by surprise.
[ THE HAIR ]: Erik has fairly short hair, a little longer on the top. He rarely bothers to comb it over, and usually just brushes a hand through his hair in the morning. It isn't that he doesn't like looking clean, it's just that he forgets. his hair is a rich medium brown, and he'd never dream of dying it or styling it in some odd way. He doesn't see why anyone would ever want to, unless it was for a part in some production.
[ THE SMILE ]: He doesn't exactly walk around flashing a smile at everyone he meets. In fact, Erik doesn't smile very often at all. He's a fairly intense man, and while he might smirk at a joke, an actual cheerful grin is rare on his face. When he does smile, though, it's always dashing and bright.
[ THE OTHER FACIAL STUFF ]: AMAZING EYEBROWS OF SMEXINESS. Erik has thick, dark eyebrows that always are the greatest contributor to his expression. They furrow when he's angered, arch when he's surprised, and knit together when he's confused. He forgets to shave quite often, and is usually seen with stubble on his chin. Again, it's not that he dislikes looking cleanshaven, he just forgets.

[ THE BUILD ]: DOES SEXY COUNT AS A BUILD? It should. Erik is very in-shape, especially for a thirty-year-old. He works out whenever he has time, and goes jogging when he can. He especially does ab excersises, to help his singing.
[ THE HEIGHT ]: 6' 2"
[ THE WEIGHT ]: 173 lbs (??? Is that good? I dunno...)
[ THE POSTURE ]: Erik walks and acts like the confident man he is. Shoulders back, chin up, back straight. He walks briskly, mostly because he's often in a rush. He tends to become a little more hunched over when he's alone, though, as if he's trying to make himself smaller. That disappears the moment anyone else is within sight, of course.

[ THE CLOTHING ]: Erik doesn't have a vastly interesting sense of style, unlike some (*cough*Maxi*cough). He tends to just wear a collared shirt and some slacks, with a leather belt and some sensible shoes. Nothing outrageous. He steers towards darker and richer colors instead of bright or light colors. He has a few different coats, seeing as Maine weather can be brisk, but nothing odd. I felt the need to stress that, since my characters almost always dress odd. XD
[ THE HYGIENE ]: Erik is to busy to be self-conscious. Things like brushing his teeth are so routine, that he just does it naturally. But he forgets to brush his hair and shave more regularly than he remembers. His short hair is more at risk of becoming too dry than getting greasy, and so he only showers every other day.

FAMILY: LOVE TO HATE 'EM.

[ THE PARENTS ]: Marcus Canio: Erik's father grew up much poorer than Erik did. His is a classic story of rags to riches: his parents gave him away to an orphanage when he was just a baby. It was a well funded orphanage, though, and he didn't exactly live in squalor. Still, he was a big, brutish looking lad, and grew up quickly. Most of those who came to the orphanage were looking for young children, and they steered towards the cute ones. "Canio" got his name because the children at the orphanage got to visit the La Fenice Opera House once, and he saw a performance of "Pagliacci". After that, he attempted to sing like the tragic clown, and earned the character's name as his own. Even though the caretakers at the orphanage called him by the name they'd given him, Marcus, to every child there he was known as Canio. When he'd reached adulthood without being adopted, he took it up as his last name and persued opera. He died when Erik was in college, studying to become more like him.
Meghan O'Riley: Erik's mother was born in Ireland, the youngest in a family of 13. Very pretty, Meghan had dark red hair and bright green eyes that laughed from her freckled face. She got excellent grades in school, and was able to attend college in Venice on a scholarship. She attended a performance of "Pagliacci", and immediately sought out attention from the star. They fell in love (awww) and got married. She dropped out of college when she found she was pregnant, so that she could take care of the baby. She never regretted her choice, and Erik always saw her as a strong woman figure. He still calls her and writes to her constantly.
[ THE SIBLINGS ]: None, unfortunately for Erik. Though it would have been difficult for his parents to raise more than one child with their constant traveling for their performance, he still always wished he had a brother or sister to teach.
[ OTHER IMPORTANT RELATIONSHIPS ]: Though he never really had a chance to make many friends his age, Erik grew up with a large assortment of cousins from his mother's side, whom they visited in Ireland every Christmas and for random events. He always felt a bit like an outcast, because he didn't have the bright colors in his hair and eyes that they had, he instead had the different shades of brown that he got from his father. Still, he enjoyed the loud cheerfulness of these occaisions, and was always a little bit sad when they had to return back to Italy.
[ IMPORTANT ANCESTRY ]: Hmm... I suppose Marcus might have actually been a prince or something. o_O Who knows?
