HOMECOMING GAME 2008 SPECTATOR'S THREAD
This is IC Date November 8th, post all spectator goings-on here.
The day was chilly and the spectators were bundled up, though the excited buzz in the air was enough to warm up anybody out at the F. Van Holst soccer stadium. Parents, siblings, Chamberlanians, and alumni alike were all crammed into the home stands to cheer on their favorite soccer team. Across the way sat the dismal crowd supporting the St. Mary's Knights, an all-boys catholic school from a few cities over. Since Felicity was a private school, they usually played other private schools that had soccer teams for their soccer matches, since they were not in an official division.
The referees and the teams alike were stretching to prepare for the day's big game, and the first of the season for Harriman. Already St. Mary's had lost twice (to the meercats of St. Jude's Episcopal of Eternal Solitude, and the Petersburg Science Magnet Microscopes), and the day was looking good for the fighting swallows. As it drew closer to the time of the match, the tension in the air was palpable, and the referee called the captains to the center of the field.
Lysander Gates called [heads] and the referee threw it in the air, catching the coin and smacking it on his hands and revealing a [heads] to the captains. Gates and Cauldine, having previously discussed, chose the goal that was downwind, and shook hands amiably with the Catholic bastards that they were about to take down.
Both teams charged the field with the referee's signal, and once they were all in their places, the referee planted the ball in the center of the field, gave both teams a meaningful look, and jogged out of the inner circle before tweeting his whistle sharply.
