WELCOME TO THEATER LIT!

DESCRIPTION + SYLLABUS:

Theater Lit is a class that delves into the deep and often hidden relationships between good literature and good theater. Intended to nurture students’ reading and comprehension skills, this subject introduces them to more difficult works of theater and literature and challenges them to find meaning behind the often difficult prose. With a concentration on Shakespeare, Oscar Wilde, William Faulkner, classic Greek mythology, and contemporary drama, this class teaches students to delve deeper into works of literature in order to better their ability to take part in them.

The class will focus mainly on discussions and performances during class hours, and students will be graded on their participation in class discussion, their completions of assigned readings, their performances in class, and their willingness to step outside of their theatrical comfort zones.
