Gerard was just too much sometimes. Too sweet, or too funny, or too handsome or too amazing. He was just too much of it all! Part of Saffie was beginning to get nervous. She was wondering when this was going to end. Was it going to be a dream she woke up from? Or was it going to be that they broke up? Would he realize he didn't really like her and let her go... probably in the nicest way ever... breaking her heart regardless... Oh Saffie... she needed to just stop thinking.

"Yes you just keep that jaw in place," she smiled at him.

Oh well- so Gerard didn't dance. No problem... and ooh, what was this he had in his hand? A solution to her thinking problem perhaps? "Well, don't even think about getting drunk without me," she instructed. "Sharing is caring, y'know."

Abi laughed, Darnell was reminding her of the time they had both sat down to watch Titanic, for the fifth time. She had started crying towards the end, Darnell copying her and looking like a complete blubbering idiot, "I know you will!" Abi smiled. Shoving him away "You'll have to catch me first 'cuz I'll be running too!", with a roll of her eyes, "Alright, you witty twit!" Still smiling as she replied, as he took a couple of steps away, Abi noticed Jay talking. Spinning around on her heel, she spotted Jay by Micah.

"Jay!" She smiled at her, observing the gorgeous dress, it suited Jay perfectly! Seeing she seemed sort of preoccupied with Micah, Abi turned back around to Darnell, watching him bobbing his head to a different tune. She was laughing, not at him, but it was so good, she couldn't not laugh! Abi overheard Saffron Wickersham egging Gerard to join him, with Gerards short reply of was she joking! Abi decided it was going to be a great night!

Kaylor turned to the mirror in the sophomore girls' dorm room and froze for a split second. "Wow..." She hadn't expected to have changed so much in only several hours' time. To her surprise, she had changed from her normal appearance to that of...well...a princess was the only thing she could think of. Enchanted by her own appearance, she reached out to touch her reflection. Of course, her fingers found only glass and she was forced to remind herself that the vision she saw in the mirror was her own self. Which was hard to imagine. The beauty staring back her looked so elegant and she didn't think she could pull that off. Well....Maybe she could. She lifted her skirt, the princess did the same, and smiled upon sight of the blue-green flats. She'd known better than to torture herself.

Part of her wondered why she'd bothered to go to such lengths this year when she'd barely managed to find a dress the previous year. There was no handsome prince waiting for her downstairs. There was no point in getting all dolled up, really. Yet, here she stood, feeling ready for a ball. Biting her soft, glossed lower lip, she reluctantly turned away from the mirror. The memory of what she looked like with her hair pulled up into a intricate bun, curling tendrils having artfully been left free to frame her face and throat and in her beautiful dress would have to suffice. Her skin shimmered when she moved, due to the incredibly tiny sparkles in the sweet-smelling lotion she'd put on. Someone, she couldn't remember who, had recommended the shimmering-sparkling stuff due to the fact that her dress was sleeveless.

At that thought, Kaylor paused, glancing down at her gown and once more wondering why she'd gone to such lengths for absolutely nobody. Perhaps it was due to the fact that it felt nice to be pretty. Whatever the reason, the deed was done and now she had only to go to the dance. Checking that her earrings and choker were in place, she opened the door and left the dark dorm room. Slowly, she made her way to the stairs.

What Kaylor had failed to anticipate, however, was the group of familiar students gathered in the lobby. She froze. Could she really go down all dressed up like this? Her heart trembled, her fragile self-confidence faltering in light of the 'obstacles' down the stairs. Suddenly, her spine stiffened, perfectly straight, her eyes narrowed every-so-slightly and she steeled her will. Yanking on her most serene of expressions, Kaylor forced a trembling hand to grasp the banister and guide her down the stairs. She tried very hard to keep her gaze away from the group gathered below her, afraid that her resolve would shatter if she caught anyone's gaze.

Strange, one might think, that Kaylor should be so nervous when no boy waited for her and when she so often dressed in such odd articles of clothing. Yet, Kaylor had never put herself in such a position that she felt, mentally, she was on a cliff edge she might fall off of. She'd always felt rather confident in her choices of apparel in the past. This...this Cinderella-business was completely new to her. She didn't know what to make of herself and she was afraid to be laughed at.

As she neared the bottom of the stairs, she began to desperately wish she'd instead rented a tuxedo and disguised herself as a boy for the night. She could have brought her sketch pad and hidden behind it....

Gerard nodded, pressing his jaw and grinning at Saffie, even now still keeping his eyes on said long limbs.

"I shall try, ma'am, just for you."

Unscrewing the lid of the small flask, he offered it to Saffie, smiling devilishly at her as he shook it a little, the liquid inside sloshing.

"Ladies first, after all, what sort of gentleman would I be if I didn't offer these things around? And I do certainly know about the whole sharing business. Care to share those lips?"

Gerard giggled into Saffie's hair before turning his attention to Kaylor, who had just swanned in, looking almost effortlessly beautiful. Gerard most certainly appreciated beauty, but he was never disloyal to a girl.

"I'm just going to talk to Kay, sweetie. Don't drink all that, save some for me too. And stay away from the punch bowl, right?"

Pressing another quick kiss to Saffie's temple, he bounced his way over to Kaylor, who looked quite the Belle of the ball. Gerard wrapped her in a bear hug, careful not to disturb the bow.

"Beautiful! Most wonderful! Glad you're here, and in such an amazing dress too..."

With his last words, he stepped back, admiring the dress, and pinching her cheeks slightly when he released his grip entirely.

Saffron puckered up, making that kissy face and some kissy noises towards Gerard before breaking into a large smile. She took the flask from his hand, sloshed it around a bit herself and took in the scent. Vodka? Mmm, yes, if she wasn't mistaken.

"Mm, you are the most gentlemanly man I think I have ever known, Gerard Crelia. It would be my most pleasurable pleasure to give you a taste of these lips a bit later, I'm sure." By the time she'd finished her sentence, Gerard's attention had been turned toward the stairs. Saffie's eyes followed. Kaylor. She looked pretty amazing.

Saffie's demeanor fell a considerable amount for a moment- but she perked back up as Gerard turned to kiss her. It was just Kay- Gerard's friend. Saffie never had a problem with her- why should she now? No reason... no not that absolutely gorgeous physique or face... no none at all.

"Sure dear, I'll just be right over here." Saffie smiled, watching Gerard a moment as he gallavanted over to Kay. Saffie'd just go over and say hi to Micah and Jay then...

"Okay you guys- last time I'm saying this all freaking night. Am I a lemon or a liar? 'Cuz I think a lemon." Saffie looked back over toward Gerard. Nope- no worries. She smiled at the group again.

Once him and Nikki had finished exchanging their welcomes, El realized that everyone had already rushed ahead to do other things. Frowning, he wasn't adverse to the idea of spending time with just Nikki- he had just been looking forward to hanging out with everyone. Shrugging this idea away though, he turned his attention back to Nikki- moving away a little bit so that he could intertwine his fingers with hers. "Would you like to dance now or just walk around?" he asked her with a small tilt of his head.

"Why don't we walk around for a bit and then if there is a good song, we can dance. We can get the lay of the land, so to speak." she smiled. "But I want to be sure to get photos of us tonight, my parents will want to see how I looked. I had to promise to email photos home." She squeezed his hand. "Besides, I don't ever want to forget this evening. Why don't we see if we can catch up with Abi and Darnell, where did they go?" She looked around for her friends. She had been so caught up with El, that she hadn't seen where they went.

"Hi Jay," she called to her roomie. "Great dress!" she gave Jay a big thumbs up sign, as they headed into the main ballroom. The decorations committee had outdone themselves with the blue light and fishnets with the glass floats and the various fish and shells around the room. The refreshment table looked like everything was delicious and the punch was guarded by a teacher so that no one would spike it. She was in heaven, she was in a beautiful gown, El had tamed her hair so that it was perfect, and she was holding his hand in anticipation of when he took her in his arms again and whisked her onto the dance floor. She was no great dancer in a school of kids that studied dance. She wasn't a total klutz but she would win no prizes if they held a competition. But she didn't care, as long as El held her close, she was happy.

Evalee took the box from Hunter, eying it with suspicion. "Do I want to know?" Her hands froze and her gaze rose to meet his.

Hunter grinned, amused. "Just open it, 'Lee, and find out for yourself. Mal sent it for you." He actually appeared to be more excited than she was. An unamused brow rose, he pouted and the child gave in with a sigh.

Nimble fingers soon had the top of the box off and she gasped. No. No they hadn't. Oh, but they had. Hunter appeared to be grinning with glee. Evalee glanced at him warningly and he immediately dimmed down his 100 watt smile. "Hunter, you promised."

"So I did. Mal didn't." He chuckled and, to Evalee, it sounded sinister. "I told him that homecoming was almost upon us. So, he sent you this box."

Defeated, Evalee slowly pulled the lavender gown out of the plain white box. It was simply gorgeous, but she was afraid she was going to rip it. After studying it, she set it aside. "That's all well and good, Hunter, but I have no date. Therefore I have no reason to go."

Hunter rolled his eyes. "'Lee, you don't need a date. If you're going to be stubborn, I'll find a tuxedo. I'm sure the staff won't consider me too dangerous if I escort you." He laughed when Evalee shook her head. "Alright then, put the dress on and I'll do the back for you."

Evalee turned the dress over and eyed the back uncertainly. "I'm not so sure about this..." She shooed her bodyguard out of the room and then set about changing out of her daily clothes and into the gorgeous gown. Fifteen minutes later, Hunter's name rang through the room and he returned to find her back facing him, her arms trying desperately to bend at impossible angles in order to put the back together.

Larger, calloused fingers gently brushed hers aside and he performed the delicate job for her. Turning her about, he tugged on one of her already-done curls. "It shocks me that you didn't protest to being sent to Belle's."

Evalee shrugged. "I didn't know of your oh-so-evil intentions then. I was rather confused when she finished with me and my hair was done up like this, but I thought she was just having a good time."

Hunter swallowed his laughter, he didn't want to embarrass his poor charge. "The dress is from Mal, but I got you these." He pulled a pair of lavender slippers out of a smaller box. Setting her on her bed, he made a great show of slipping them onto her feet. "There. I don't think you need any jewelry, you're a diamond all by yourself. Just go wow the crowd for me, 'Lee. I could still go with you, if you're afraid."

Frowning at him, she slipped off of her bed. "I think I'll be fine, thanks. See you tonight, Hunter." She pressed a gentle kiss to his cheek and then she was gone.

Evalee bounded down the dormitory stairs and out of the building. Taking fistfuls of her skirt, she carefully lifted it so she could run to the Chamberlain Events Hall. It was only when she got there that she froze. Hold on a moment...Was there a specific way to enter? She paused by the door, watching as couple after couple entered. All of them teenagers, all of them stunning. Evalee gnawed on her lower lip uncertainly. There hadn't been a sign saying sixth graders couldn't go, but...Where were the other girls from the dorm? They hadn't been in the room, after all.

Kaylor was once more beginning to lose her inner battle. She couldn't do this. She would meet someone's eye. Or she'd trip and fall. Something, anything would stop her from fulfilling her duty to herself. Doubts began to plague her, gnawing at her will. The trembling in her hands increased and she had to fight to keep her fingers wrapped around the banister. Fear and panic was pulling her into their icy grips. Why had she been so silly as to dangle herself so precariously? She couldn't do this. No, best go back upstairs. Find that infamous sketch book. Hide behind it. Draw until dawn...

And then her savior swooped up as though to give her that extra boost. Gerard's arms wrapped around her. Unable to prevent herself, even knowing he had a date, she allowed herself a moment of weakness and laid her cheek on his shoulder. His words tried to lift her waning will, but she was petrified. This was not her sort of social gathering. She was out of her place here. Why, oh why had she put on this dress?

She straightened as her friend released her. His cheek pinching antic made her smile. Yet, even that faltered...fell away as terror gripped her. "Gee, I can't. I'm scared." Kaylor hadn't stepped out of her place as best friend to Kale and quiet artist since Kale's death. She didn't know if she could be the person that was struggling to spread her wings.

With an abrupt shake of the head, she nudged Gerard's shoulder, glancing pointedly at Saffron. "Go. Don't make her wait. It's not fair." She herself couldn't move. Almost all the way down the stairs and she'd frozen. Her will, which she'd only steeled a moment before, was already rusting away. Others were staring, which had never bothered her before, but it was different tonight.

Finally the real question loomed before her in her head. Was she going to run away at midnight only to hope some prince would find her? Or was she going to see this ball through to its end? Kale wasn't here to save her and she refused to ask Gerard to do that. He had his own concerns. Besides, his full attention should be on Saffron, not his silly friend. Still, she was scared. Part of her wondered if she'd have to become someone different if she stepped fully into the ballroom. Another part of her realized she was just being silly. All this fear was probably just stage fright. She just didn't want to be noticed. Poor little mouse, the cat might pay attention to it. Coward.

Darnell was standing there, bopping his head from side to side, shaking around a little- y'know- moving his groove thang. He wasn't shy, in fact, he was the complete opposite. He was putting on quite the little show... And yet not many were joining him. Or maybe he was the reason not many were joining... oh well. This thought and all others flooded from his mind when he turned to see Evalee coming into the dance hall. Awwww, he chuckled softly to himself. It was a good thing that she'd come- forcibly or not. He hoped she had fun, wait... no... he was going to make sure she had fun. Yeah, that was much more Darnie-like. Plus, given that whole photo booth situation, he was in an extra good mood.

Jogging over to her, he straightened up his tie and jacket before sneaking around, back to the wall, until he was right beside the doorway. "Pssst," he began, breaking almost instantly into a laugh. "You plan on joining us on the other side of the threshold Miss Evalee?" He nodded down toward the floor, cocking his head in the direction of the dance floor. "We don't bite- well- I don't." His eyes swiftly glanced over the crowd of kids already in. He smiled approvingly until he saw Will- but quickly he turned back to Evalee, the smile there again. "I'm just kidding, nothing to worry about here- are you expecting someone?"

Ozzie fiddled with the tie of his suit for about the hundredth time in the last five minutes. He wasn't used to wearing clothes like this, or going to events like this for that matter. This large congregation of older people was absolutely terrifying to him. Aunt Emily had told him over and over that he was going, whether he wanted to or not. That wasn't the problem, though. He did want to go, he was just terrified of it turning out horribly in some way or another. Part of that was not having a solid group of friends to go with, though it wasn't like he'd ever had one of those anyways. It just seemed like everyone at the school was grouping up, or at least pairing up, in preparation for the dance. He just had his Aunt to drive him to the events hall. Well, that wasn't entirely true. He had Evalee. At least he would have if he hadn't been too chicken to ask her to go with him. It's not like he wanted to date her or anything, it just would have been nice to have a partner in crime. He just hoped she would end up going so he could at least have somebody to spend the dance with.

He made his way slowly to the doors of the events hall, his eye caught by a pretty splash of lavender. As he got closer, he realized that the pretty splash of lavender was none other than Evalee! He broke into a trot and quickly caught up to her, giving the older boy beside her a wary smile. "Hey Al, how's my favorite wicked witch?" he asked, his hands finding their way into the pockets of his slacks, "I reckon you're as alone as I am around here." He looked at his feet shyly. Well, better late than never right? "Would you like to, I dunno, be my partner in crime for the night?" His feet shuffled and he forced himself to look up at her. She looked like a pretty china doll. He glanced over at the older boy beside her. "I'm Osmond." he muttered, remembering that it was supposed to be good to meet new people.

Evalee watched as yet another absolutely stunning couple walked into the actual room while she stood there, feeling like a dunce. She inched a foot towards the door, but stepped back as she caught a glare from another older girl, who was chatting up her date as they passed. She sighed in frustration. She couldn't bring herself to go in and there were already so many people entering that it was probably packed anyway. Not that she could tell from outside the doors. Part of her wanted to step in, but the other part of her thought she might get stepped on or otherwise crushed. Where was Oz? Had he come? Was he already inside? If so, she should be in there looking for him instead of standing outside feeling foolish.

Just as she was working up another wave of bravery a familiar voice caught her attention. Turning, Evalee smiled. "Darnell! I..yes, I do. I'm just not certain if I can do it without stepping on someone's toes, metaphorically speaking." She giggled. "I should hope you didn't bite, otherwise I'd have to spend more time worried about my health." His last question had her peering around him to check the darkened interior of the room. "Sort of...I'm waiting for-" She cut herself off as Oz arrived.

His greeting had her positively beaming at him. "As wicked as ever. And yourself, dear Wizard?" She hid her hands in the folds of her skirt. "You could say that. Until Darnell arrived, I was very alone." In answer to his question, Evalee hugged him. "I would like that very much, Oz!" Silly girl that she was, she saw nothing that anyone else might see in it. Right now she was just happy that Oz had arrived, for she'd feared she might be taking time away from Darnell's possible date. Remembering her manners when her friend introduced himself, she turned to Darnell. "Darnell, this is my friend, Osmond. Oz, this is Darnell, I met him the other day." With that aside, she caught Oz's arm and quickly pulled him to the other side of the threshold, thus joining the older kids for real.

Oz was glad that Evalee was doing well, she certainly looked it. Her fright had vanished before Oz had gotten close enough to see it, and he wondered why she had kept from entering the dance. She looked like she would fit right in in her pretty dress and matching shoes. China doll, belle of the ball, he rhymed to himself. "Wizardly? Not quite enough terrorization from wicked witches like yourself." He watched her hands disappear into her skirt and marveled at the way women's dresses were made. He hoped he would get a chance to go to the fabric store and try making something like Evalee's dress. He wondered if she would let him use her as a model.

He glanced back at Darnell and his smile strengthened. He was glad that the older boy had been keeping Evalee company, and she obviously seemed to like him. As the saying went, any friend of Evalee was a friend of Oz. He was surprised by Evalee's hug, but liked it. He was well aware that he hadn't gotten enough hugs in his childhood (not that it was over quite yet), so hers was far more than welcome. "Good. To tell the truth, I'm absolutely terrified of going in there by myself." He gave a shy smile at that confession, but truthfully he didn't feel the least bit shy about sharing it with Evalee. Weird, huh?

Oz waved at Darnell, then allowed himself to be whisked away by Evalee. Well, it wasn't like he really had a choice. She was stronger than she looked. He stopped beside her near the group of older kids, hands stuffed in his pockets once more. "Hey, you wanna dance or something?" he asked. He definitely wasn't the world's greatest dancer, but he wasn't shy about having fun to music like a lot of boys his age.

Saffron could definitely say she was having a tremendous amount of fun at the Homecoming dance. She was relaxed, totally chill, happy and bubbly and just freaking fine- that is, until her easiness was disrupted by the entrance of an old flame (if only flickering one way). That is to say, Lysander- Will- the complimenter of her nose.

She stiffened up a bit at the sight of him- her mind suddenly throwing at her all kinds of thoughts pertaining to his handsomeness and what not. Quickly, she turned, and shook her head a bit, the lost smile returned and she chewed on her bottom lip for a second, her pointer finger stuck awkwardly between her teeth. She just needed to ignore him. There had never been anything there, and besides- she had Gerard! And Gerard was all that she would ever need. He'd always been there for her- always would. So her mind should just shut the hell up.

With a rather large swig of the watered-down vodka Gerard had handed her, and the hope that the raging thoughts would quiet themselves, Saffron turned and walked quickly toward Gerard, coming up from behind him and throwing her arms around his neck.

"Hey Kaylor," she smiled at the very elegantly dressed girl. "You look so great!" Complimentary duty completed. Now... "Okay so I know you really don't wanna dance- but c'mon Gerard- for me?" She laid her chin on his shoulder, and pressed her cheek against his. "What do you say?" She twirled around to face him, and slyly returned the flask to his coat's inner pocket. Her hands dropped to his and their fingers intertwined. He couldn't say no. She wouldn't let him.

"Alright," El replied with a small smile. "Darnell's working his magic," El said with a laugh- feeling a little weird about keeping the fact that Darnell liked Abi a secret from Nikki. Well, it was a guy thing anyways. Looking around at everyone, El felt strangely sad. Nikki was a senior, he was junior... what was going to happen once she graduated? He frowned, various options going through his head- not really knowing which one to pick out. Deciding that it wouldn't be good to think about things seriously for the time being, El put one arm around Nikki's waist as they walked so that she would be closer to him.

"That's good," she replied. "Abi likes him and he seems to really like Abi, so it will work out fine for them." She smiled, she hoped that Abi and Darnell worked out as well as she and El seemed to. She really didn't want this to end badly, she truely liked El and hoped that they could be together for a long time. Then she realized that she would be graduating this June and El still had a year to go. Well they would just have to have a long distance relationship for awhile until he graduated and they could be together again. If their relationship lasted that long... Well, she wasn't going to solve her problem tonight, so enjoy the prom was the top of her to-do list tonight and make some memories. "El, why don't we go get a cup of punch and then maybe do some dancing?" She suggested, "We also need to get our picture taken. If my folks don't get a picture, they will be very upset with me."

Uh oh. Not good, not with Kay all frozen up and looking vaguely terrified. Wait, scrap that. She looked purely terrified. Gerard wrapped her in another quick bear hug, and almost immediately released her again, but kept close.

"Of course you can sweetie. Come on, you don't even have to dance. Sit in a corner with me, and just have a good time."

Ignoring the push on his shoulder, he tugged on her hand until arms fell around his neck. Twisting his head to smile lightly at Saffie, he kept his eyes on Kaylor.

"Seriously Kay, you look beautiful! Saffie's right ya'know."

Dropping Kaylor's hand support Saffie around his neck, Gerard made a face. He didn't enjoy dancing at all- not unless he was drunk anyway, but all the same. He allowed himself to be turned, and grinned when the flask was pushed back into his pocket, considerably lighter than it had been when he had produced it earlier.

"One dance, Saf, because otherwise I'll be the idiot dancing that no one wants to dance with."

He turned and pulled another face at Kay, cross-eyed and tongue out, in the hope of making her laugh before he was going to be dragged onto the dance floor. He really, really needed a drink now. Taking the lid off the now unconcealed flask, he took a large swig, pulling a face slightly at the vague taste.

Saffron noticed the grin that Gerard gave her as she tucked his flask away- and she smiled to herself, thinking there'd be more where that came from. Hopefully, if the night allowed, quite a bit more. There was something so freeing about leaving her normal state of mind- and to do that with Gerard would just make her feel so much more amazing. And maybe, just maybe, there'd be no crash in the morning. Although honestly- she wasn't going to be that optimistic about it.

In any case, she now dragged Gerard onto the dance floor, laughing softly to herself,

"No, you'll be the idiot dancing that only I want to dance with- big difference," She watched him take a swig of his own. "Mmhm, you just keep that up- tomorrow you wouldn't even remember dancing upside-down let alone right-side up." The music was pumping through the speakers, and the dance floor slowly filling up. More people meant closer dancing, so Saffie was perfectly fine with that- she pulled Gerard toward the middle, and her arms around his neck began to sway from side to side, shaking her hair around a bit, but mostly her hips, so her dress shook exaggeratedly. She wanted more vodka- yet lightweight that she was, she found that as she tried to do a spin, she nearly fell into Gerard. She laughed, and danced around Gerard to face him again. "Hmm, maybe I'm the idiot dancing..." Having then regained her composure she returned to that rhythmic hip-sway.

Darnell nodded to the freshie named Osmond and took a back seat in the conversation for a few very entertaining minutes. These kids were deff cool. They had awesome nicknames for each other and everything- the only thing Darnell had ever been called as a younger kid was smelly. Or "ewww cooties". Deff not cool. Anyways...

"Yeah, nice ta meet you... Osmond... Oz... Wizard...?" Darnell laughed at his own awkward confusion. "So yeah- awesome- now you're not alone! I'll leave you two to your Homecoming fun- glad you came!- See you around!" Darnell walked off very satisfied with himself. He felt like such a helper, brining the young'ns together for their first dance. Walking in that accomplished sort of manner, he wandered until he found Abi again- wow, he'd only been away from her for a short while, yet when his eyes found her again, he was completely re-blown away.

"Abster!" Darnell yelled over the sound of the music. He'd been inspired. "I've done the alone dancing thing, just as you suggested. So now whaddya say to a dance with me?" He held his hand out, smiling. WAIT. WHAT HAD HE JUST SAID? Oh good gracious, what was he doing taking cues from a freshie?! He couldn't dance! At least... not with someone. Somehow part of him was seriously hoping Abi'd deny this most ridiculous request so he could leave it at that. He considered following up with a PSYCH. But that would definitely be a bad idea. No- he'd backed himself into this corner. WAIT AGAIN. He could do this, totally. He tried to think back to his last family reunion. His aunt had tried to teach him how to dance... he remembered the moving of the feet, and the spinning and the part where he was supposed to kind of whip her away from him and then back... oooh and the dippy thingie. Yeah... maybe that would suffice?

A short tidbit of laughter floated from Gerard's mouth when Saffron corrected him, and just pulled her to him. Next he thought it's be nice to remind her that he did not get drunk that easy. Why had he agreed? Why was he now being dragged into the middle of the dancefloor?

"Nice of you to think so, but unlike someone I know, I am not a lightweight when it comes to alcohol."

Even so, Gerard pressed a kiss to the corner of her mouth as Saffie started dancing, and his own hands fell to Saffie's waist, as he shuffled awkwardly in some resemblance of dancing. Letting go when he felt Saffie about to attempt... a spin?, Gerard found that he could only laugh a little when she almost fell, catching her arms to make sure she didn't actually fall.

"You may be an idiot dancing, but I hope you know that the only dance I can really do sober is the chicken dance."

Though his tone was conversational, there was a slight comedy 'get-me-out-of-here' look he had going on. He hated dancing. Even if it was Saffie he was dancing with. That made him feel a little better about it.

Thoroughly amused by all the goings on in this attempt at dancing, Saffron's smile could not have been wiped off her face if she'd tried. She pulled in close to Gerard for a moment, listening to him and his subtle complaints.

"Oh really now?" Her eyes squinted up in glee, "Let's see those sexy moves then- and then we can leave the dance floor- that's a promise." She leaned in for a kiss, and then stood back a little, waiting to see Gerard's chicken dance. This was going to be extremely amusing. Question was, had he enough alcohol in his system yet to go through with this? "Maybe you should take another drink, dear- oh- and if you do, don't forget to pass it around!" Her lips coming up in a smirk, she continued in her anticipation.

Reaching into his pocket to do as Saffie suggested, Gerard took another swig from his flask, steeling himself to do the most embarrassing dance of his life. Pausing for only a moment as he handed the flask to Saffron, he took a deep breath before finding the beat and launching into it. Beak. Wings. Tail feathers. Claps. Self conscious shuffling when he realised everyone was staring.

"Well, that was humiliating. Can we go back and like... not dance anymore? Bcause I can think of better things we can be doing with our time."

Gerard winked at Saffie as he took her hand, the embarrassed blush slowly starting to fade as, hopefully, people started to dance better and in a more fun way. The way Gerard would love to dance with Saffie, but needed to be more drunk than this- the alcohol was only mildly buzzing him at the moment as compared to how he could be at parties.

"Can I have a kiss to make up for that?"

Gerard leaned forward, in to Saffie so he was close enough to see each eyelash competely individually, and breath falling on her lips.

Saffron could not contain her rupture of laughter as she witnessed Gerard do the most extremely silly dance she had ever seen. Pretty much ever. Yet somehow- he made it endearing- possibly even attractive- although saying that would be going a tad bit far in all honestly. She gulped down some more of the bitter liquid from the flask. Mmm, that was good- she could already feel the light-headedness consuming her. That meant careless happiness was near.

"Of course, Rawra- I can think of a few things myself." Saffron grabbed his hands and walked backwards through the crowd of people, tipsily weaving her way through until they broke into the cooler air of the open dance hall.

"I think I might need a kiss to make for that," she giggled, teasingly- fully intending to comply, of course. She felt his breath on her lips and she smiled, leaning in until those lips met his. Pulling away a moment, she took the last sip she'd have for a while of the vodka, and handed it back to Gerard. She smiled, the happiness had come. "Iwannanotherkiss."

The package had arrived this morning- which Nyx was eternally grateful for. He had since ironed the crease out the dress (with much groaning about housework and how the dress should not be packed in a box). Now he was analysing his appearance in the mirror. The green dress was just about right on him, and he untwisted one of the straps as he stared into the mirror. It had been absolute hell trying to find a dress- after all, it's not often guys wear dresses to prom. He'd ended up resorting to an internet site just in time for it to arrive today, and had just begged in his mind, desperately, that it was the right size. It was.

"Why, oh why did I not decide to just go in a tux?"

Nyx questioned himself as he pulled on silver shoes, being careful not to let the carefully clipped silver bow fall out of his hair. He knew exactly why he didn't go for a conventional tuxedo- he wasn't exactly a guy with normal tastes, as his dress showed. Afterall, normal men don't go to homecoming in a dress. With a final spin, Nyx smiled at his reflection, and quickly grabbed the clutch bag which held his eyeliner and lipgloss. As well as his cell phone and tissues. He fumbled in the drawer for a moment before pulling out his bottle of Bailey's and taking a quick gulp. He would to have a suitable amount of carelessness as he walked into that hall.

Being the last of the guys to leave, Nyx could do something that he never normally would have done- more girly than usual, he blew a half-hearted kiss to the mirror. He'd gotten some odd looks, even just walking to the hall. It didn't bode well for inside. But, the key was to make an entrance. And make an entrance he did, a malevolent smile fixed on his face as he swept past hordes of people, the occasional finger being stuck up at somone who stared too hard- in a bad way.

His entrance would have been perfect if he hadn't of stumbled, tripping over his own feet. But oh well, never mind. Nearly perfect. Nearly was good enough for something he couldn't undo.
